We are thrilled to welcome Hawa Hassan, award-winning author of In Bibi’s Kitchen and proud Seattle native, to Café Suliman for a special collaboration brunch celebrating the release of her stunning new book, Setting a Place for Us. This deeply personal collection shares recipes and stories from eight countries shaped by war, offering a powerful look at resilience through food. The book will be available for purchase at the event.
Brunch is my favorite meal,rarely enjoyed these days, but always a treat. For this occasion, we’ll feature a few of Hawa’s recipes with a Café Suliman twist: from Iraq, Bagila Bil Dihin, fava beans with flatbread and fried eggs; and from Lebanon, Hindbeh B’Zeit, braised greens with caramelized onions and fregola sarda.
